چکیده
A cochlear model has been developed [1,2] which can model aspects of auditory impairment, including changes in the auditory threshold and filter bandwidth. This model is used to simulate the cochlear response to tones and speech in normal and impaired ears. The model illustrates some of the difficulties that can be encountered in developing signal processing for hearing aids. The model results suggest that complete compensation for hearing loss may not be possible in an acoustic signal processing system.
